Scarlett Martin and Alexandria Pena are seniors at Cathedral Catholic high school and co-founders of the Second Lap Organization. As dedicated track and cross country athletes at Cathedral, they wanted to find a way to have others be a part of cross country and track irrespective of their economic standing. They started this organization to give back to their community especially to the less fortunate. With a shared love for running, they decided giving gently used running shoes to those who could not afford them would be a great way to be a part of something bigger. With monthly meetings throughout the school year, they encourage others to donate shoes as well as plan fundraisers to collect shoes. Second Lap gives those who desire to run an opportunity to do so with a simple pair of quality shoes.
